Liver toxicity is what Anadrol has been associated with. Patients receiving therapy of androgenic anabolic steroid have been found with a condition in which liver and sometimes splenic tissue is substituted by blood-filled cysts, called peliosis hepatis. Such cysts are at times present with a hepatic dysfunction that is minimal, and yet at other times liver failure is associated with them. Until intra-abdominal hemorrhage or life-threatening liver failure expands they are usually not recognized. Cease of drug use usually leads to complete perish of lesions. Liver cell tumors have also been reported. They are usually benign and androgen-dependent cases of fatal malignant tumors are known. Tumor progression can however regress or standstill as a result of drug withdrawal. Anadrol may also affect the levels of lipids – substances associated with a high risk of artery or heart disease. Women who take Anadrol stand the chance of developing such masculine features as facial hair, a deeper voice or hair loss because this drug is chemically similar to testosterone – the main male hormone.

Opinions are different when it comes to dosage. A daily dosage of 0,5 - 2,5 mg per pounds of body weight is recommended by Syntex Latino, the manufacturer of the former Spanish Oxitosona 50 tablets. In such a case a 200 pounds weighing bodybuilder could take up to 500 mg per day – a whole 10 tablets. Severe side effects could come of these indications as they are much too high and completely unrealistic. A sufficient dosage for any athlete would be 0,5 - 0,8 mg per pound of body weight/day. This equals to 1-4 tablets; i.e. 50-200 mg/day. It is highly inadvisable that any athlete take over four tablets in one single day. Our opinion is that a daily 4 tablets intake should not be exceeded under no circumstances. Those of you who would like to try this drug for the first time we advice to start with an intake of one single 50 mg tablet. It is only after a few days or even better after a week that you can increase the dosage to two tablets a day : one in the morning and one in the evening, both taken with meals.
